The
Smiles of Christmas event pairs high school students with the inner-city children
of Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona for a day of fun and learning. It's a
chance for our high school students to not only give their time to the less
fortunate, but also for them to learn about the life experiences of others.
This year's event will involve students from 30 high schools helping over
2,000 inner-city children.
The Smiles of Christmas charity event started six years ago and was awarded
Largest Student Led Mentor Charity Program in the Southwest last year.
The event is run by a student-led board, with Eric Urry of McClintock High
School as current president.

and let everyone bring a smile to a child this Christmas. With the Gift of
Friendship program, your donation will deliver a stuffed animal to an inner-city
child. Your purchase is tax-free, deductible as a donation, buys and delivers
the stuffed animal and also helps fund the Smiles of Christmas event. You donated
stuffed animal will be delivered to a child by a high school student.
This year's Gift of Friendship program is in Honor of Alyssa Silva of St. Mary's High School. Alyssa was SOC Student President for 2007. Alyssa has left an indelible mark on Smiles of Christmas, leading the way for people to get involved with her excitement, dedication and inspiration.
